Nikolay Atanasov, ACA

Nikolay founded Shubraka to give Bulgarian business owners in the UK the accountant he would have wanted when he arrived: one who speaks their language, understands both tax systems and picks up the phone.

He qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG in 2011, auditing financial institutions, and then moved his focus to entrepreneurs and growing businesses. Today he leads the firm’s advisory work: tax structuring, real-time management information, funding, and the cross-border questions that come with running a business between the UK and Bulgaria.

He is approachable, commercially savvy and not afraid to get his hands dirty.

Outside work, Nikolay is very much a family man. At the weekend you’ll find him playing football with his kids, getting wet in a kayak or hiking through the wilderness.
